Awakened by the King’s Call

The Feast of Trumpets · Yom Teruah

Leviticus 23:23–25 appoints the first day of the seventh month as a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing trumpets, and a holy convocation. The sound interrupts ordinary work and gathers the people before God.

A holy awakening

Biblical trumpets announce, warn, gather, and celebrate the King. This feast trains the heart to wake from spiritual dullness. It reminds us that history belongs to God and that His people must remain attentive to His voice.

Watchful hope

The New Testament also uses trumpet imagery when speaking of Christ’s appearing and the resurrection. We should not force every detail into a timetable. The faithful response is clear: live awake, encourage one another, and be ready to welcome the King.
