God Dwelling with His People

The Feast of Tabernacles · Sukkot

Leviticus 23:33–43 appoints seven days of rejoicing and dwelling in booths after the harvest is gathered. The temporary shelters teach later generations that the LORD made Israel dwell in booths when He brought them out of Egypt.

Joyful dependence

Sukkot holds abundance and vulnerability together. The harvest is gathered, yet the people leave ordinary security to remember that God sustained them in the wilderness. Biblical joy is not self-sufficiency; it is grateful life in God’s presence and provision.

Living water and the dwelling of God

During the feast Jesus cries out concerning living water in John 7:37–39. Revelation 21:3 announces the final hope: God dwelling with humanity. The feast therefore trains us to rejoice now while longing for creation filled completely with His presence.
