Review key words from Lessons 1–2, acquire twelve more high-frequency words, recognize important noun relationships, understand how short prefixes attach to nouns, and read Genesis 12:1 in five manageable phrases.
1. Retrieval warm-up
Give the meaning before tapping. Missed items should be reviewed again at the end.
2. New Hebrew 700 vocabulary — ranks 25–36
Listen and echo each word twice. Then cover the English and retrieve the meaning. Finally reverse the direction: meaning → spoken Hebrew.
3. Organize meaning without memorizing in blocks

The groupings help meaning, but the quiz mixes all items to reduce interference.
4. Words with wider biblical meanings
Context may refer to a building, its inhabitants, or a dynasty.
A concrete body part often extends metaphorically to strength or authority.
The form looks plural and is grammatically plural in many constructions, though English often uses singular “face.”
Translate according to scale and context rather than using “earth” every time.
5. Prefixes attach to nouns
Hebrew often packs what English expresses with several words into one written unit.
מִן + אֶרֶץ + your
from your landוְ + מִן + בַּיִת + “your father”
and from your father’s houseDo not expect every attached prefix to keep the exact vowel learned in isolation. Sound environment and grammatical form can change it.
6. Torah reading ladder — Genesis 12:1
God’s call to Abram is longer than the previous readings. Master each phrase independently, then connect them.
And the LORD said to Abram
Go forth from your land
and from your birthplace/kin
and from your father’s house
to the land that I will show you
Build and complete
“The LORD said to Abram: Go forth from your land, from your birthplace, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.”
The written divine name יְהוָה is read aloud here as אֲדֹנָי, following common Jewish reading tradition.
7. Guided comprehension
- Who speaks, and to whom?
- Find the word meaning “to/toward.”
- Which new vocabulary word is inside מֵאַרְצְךָ?
- Which new vocabulary word is inside וּמִבֵּית?
- What does אֲשֶׁר introduce?
- How many “from” ideas appear?
8. Active recall
Complete at least 15 mixed-direction questions. Speak before clicking.
9. Production and exit check
- Say “we,” “people,” “king,” “land,” “house,” and “day” in Hebrew.
- Explain three possible contextual meanings of יָד.
- Read the five Torah phrases independently.
- Copy Genesis 12:1 and circle every attached ו, מ, ב, ל, ה that you recognize.
- Read the complete verse without transliteration.
