The sevenfold Spirit · Isaiah 11:1–3רוח יהוה

The Seven Spirits of God

One Holy Spirit in sevenfold fullness.

Isaiah reveals the Spirit of the LORD resting upon the Messiah in wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the LORD. These are not seven separate spirits, but the complete fullness of the one Holy Spirit revealed perfectly in Jesus Christ and forming His people.

The Spirit of the LORD

The first radiant line names the Spirit of the LORD Himself—the divine presence resting upon the promised Messiah.

Every expression that follows begins here. Wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and holy fear are not techniques separated from God; they flow from the Spirit who rests upon Jesus. The Messiah does not minister by self-generated strength. He lives, speaks, judges, heals, and serves in unbroken fellowship with the Father through the Holy Spirit. Christian formation likewise begins with receiving His presence rather than striving to imitate spiritual fruit without its source.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. — Luke 4:18 KJV
