The Seven Spirits of God

One Holy Spirit in sevenfold fullness.

Isaiah reveals the Spirit of the LORD resting upon the Messiah in wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the LORD. These are not seven separate spirits, but the complete fullness of the one Holy Spirit revealed perfectly in Jesus Christ and forming His people.

The Fear of the LORD

The fear of the LORD is reverent delight—the joyful reordering of life around God’s beauty, holiness, and authority.

Holy fear does not drive God’s children away from Him. In Jesus it becomes wonder, humility, teachability, and glad obedience. Isaiah says the Messiah delights in the fear of the LORD; reverence is therefore not anxious distance but wholehearted alignment with the Father. The Spirit frees us from slavery to approval, comfort, and control so that God’s presence becomes our treasure and His word our joy.

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD. — Isaiah 11:3 KJV
